Buster the Brown Trasher was out on Earth Day along with Mayor Mickey Thompson and others from the City of Douglasville to promote Georgia's state litter awareness campaign, "Litter It Costs You". 1 week of actual roadside litter, 2 1/2 tons worth, was piled for the display to show residents how much litter is collected each week within the City of Douglasville. Litter in the City of Douglasville costs residents more than $200,000 annually. Littering is a crime and punishable by fines up to $1,000. Keep Douglasville Beautiful is encouraging everyone to not litter and is providing car litter bags and also, pocket ashtrays -- for the #1 littered item, cigarette butts. Not only does litter cost us money, but it also costs us beauty and safety. So, please, Keep Douglasville Beautiful -- Don't Litter!
